TED talks

November 2nd, 2018

Today we went to the Basilica for our field trip and it went pretty good. We got back to school a little after mod 8 started so I only had two classes left for the day. When we went in to human geography today Mr. Schick had chocolate chip muffins for all of us and we reviewed the PowerPoint that we talked about regarding the population pyramids. After we reviewed about the population pyramids we watched a TED talk that was about population pyramids but explained it a little different. We were able to identify if the different places were a Christmas tree, cup or box. Then we had a little bit of time left in class we watched a video about a supermodel which was one of the TED talks that our teacher went to. It was crazy how in the video she walked in looking like a supermodel but about 10 seconds after that she decided to change the way she looked by putting on different clothes which changed the perspective of how people saw her. She talked about how she got away without getting a ticket because of her looks. But then the people of other races get interrogated just because of the way they look. All in all today's class went pretty well and I enjoyed watching the TED talks videos. The TED talks videos give me a different perspective of what we are learning and I feel like I understand what the different population pyramids mean and are able to identify the differences.
