Today in class we talked about life expectancy and that women usually tend to live longer then men and the reasoning behind it. We also went on a little rant about lacrosse today and how some people think it is a racket sport which is really funny. I enjoyed watching the teacher attempt to draw a lacrosse stick on the board. Also we took some notes in class today so here is what we talked about.
- life expectancy- the average number of years to be lived by a group of people born in the same year
- The highest life expectancy is in Monaco and for men the average life span is 85.63 years and for women it is 93.58 years
- The US is ranked 48 and the life expectancy for men is 77.32 and for women is 81.97
- The lowest life expectancy is in Chad and for men it is 48.64 years and for women it is 51.03 years
- Potable means safe for human consumption
- Crude birth rate- number of births per 1,000 of the population
- Crude death rate- number of deaths per 1,000 of the population
- Rate of natural increase(RNI)
- produced by subtracting the death rate from the birth rate
- This gives us the annual natural growth rate in percentage form for a country or region
All in all today's class went prep well and we covered a lot of new information.
